Bünning was a famous plant physiologist and a father of chronobiology, who taught at the University of Tübingen. The hundredth anniversary of Erwin Bünning was celebrated by the Faculty of Biology at the University of Tübingen on the 23rd of January, 2006. A lecture of Helfrich-Förster, Regensburg and of Anand D. Karve, Poona (India) for the celebration is summarized, Bünnings Curriculum vitae and his area of interest and occupation mentioned.
