Abstract:

Bünning was a famous plant physiologist and a father of chronobiology, who taught at the University of Tübingen. The hundredth anniversary of Erwin Bünning was celebrated by the Faculty of Biology at the University of Tübingen on the 23rd of January, 2006. A lecture of Helfrich-Förster, Regensburg and of Anand D. Karve, Poona (India) for the celebration is summarized, Bünnings Curriculum vitae and his area of interest and occupation mentioned. Lectures, articles of and by Bünning (inaugural address 1952 and rector talk 1953, Bünning about Pfeffer, his inaugural address at the Heidelberg Academia, a talk of Schwemmle for Bünnings 70th birthday, a talk of Haupt 1990, excerpts of a talk of Mohr 1987, speech of Chandrashekaran 1985 for the 80th birthday, report of Tazawa 2006, of Baillaud 2006, of Chandrashekaran 2006).
