Abstract:
This is a progress report on a research project outlined in an earlier article (11 Abstracts on Criminology and Penology, No. 1/1971, pp. 6—14). The report is based on a mailed questionnaire survey conducted with management representatives of a sample of industrial corporations in Baden-Württemberg. The results indicate that crime is not a high-priority problem for most corporations contacted. Known criminality rises with the number of enforcement personnel, even when company size is held constant. Furthermore, four types of corporate disposition of norm violators are discussed: 1) waiving sanctions, 2) internal sanctions, 3) labor law reaction, 4) penal law reaction. Finally, it is shown that among the „offenders known to corporate management“, women are underrepresented while foreign workers are overrepresented.
