Abstract:

In this chapter, we explore how a South African teacher-training program prepares Natural Science and Life Sciences preservice teachers for ESD (Education for Sustainable Development). We illustrate how the notion of ESD evolved from that of Environmental Education (EE) and how that process is taken up into the university's teacher training system.
