Description: EX/HD/HE/LK, secondary burial. A regular bone pile contained the parallel-arranged infra-cranial remains of a man, a woman, a juvenile, and two children. The skulls of the two adults and a child were placed west of the pile, all of them facing east. Another skull of a child and skull fragments from the juvenile were found in between the post-cranial elements. Innominates and scapulae delimited the pile to the north and to the south. A subsequent pit was cut through the burial at the east; which caused damage to the long bones. HD: The cranium is in very good condition, the mandible is absent. The robust but fragmentary post-cranium is lacking the left shoulder, right ulna, left radius, sacrum, and right os coxae. The cranial shape is round with a broad forehead (mesocephalic). The external occipital protuberance is marked. The viscero-cranium shows canine fossae. The development of the deltoid tuberosity is much more pronounced on the right humerus than on the left revealing a right-sided dominance. Some of the teeth (RI2, RM1, LI2, LM2) show interproximal grooves probably resulting from habitual use of toothpicks. The skull exhibits clear evidence for cranial surgery. The original hole created by the trepanation extended about 20mm in diameter. Parts of the hole are covered by new bone (opening 13mm). Another lesion close to the bregma is compatible with the presence of a tumour. Whether there is any relation between the tumour and the trepanation is unclear but likely. Body Height Estimation: 173,00 (Trotter and Gleser 1952).
