dc.description.abstract |
The oeuvre of Julije Knifer was marked by meander paintings, an old Greek ornament, that was first recognised in Compositions in late 190s and continously represented in different mediums: painting, sculpture, relief, collages, wall painintgs, journals from 1959 onwards.Meander is not an ornament in Knifer`s oeuvre but a whole system, as one mender is just a part of the whole meander oeuvre.Meander is a form through which Knifer ultimately marks the facts, borderline situations, a form on which he tries to inscribe his consciousness trying to trespass the material character of art itself. |
