dc.description.abstract |
This work investigated the evolution of phytochrome signaling and reponses in land plants. Phytochromes and phytochrome signaling components from non-seed plants, such as the moss Physcomitrella patens, were characterized in their functional properties, revealing strong similarities to seed plants. The analyses of physiological responses of P. patens towards light corroborated these similarities. The obtained results suggest an evolutionary conservation of the phytochrome signaling system. |
