Abstract:
Through cooperative, problem solving oriented short-term coaching talks with a Tandem partner, the concept of coaching should contribute to develop realistic, close to the praxis alternative actions, to plan, accompany and support the implementation of those in the daily leadership, and consequently to assure the transference of the developed alternatives approaches in professional leadership related to advice searchers.
Firstly, this scientific essay will include the theoretical and methodological basic principles of coaching before the origination of the term, the boundaries to close-related consulting and therapy forms, and from the required qualifications of a coach up to the usefulness and effectiveness of coaching.
In the following Chapter, the concept of coaching will be developed as a combined result of the experience from individual leadership coaching sessions and subjective theories for operation models (Mandl & Huber, 1982).
The next chapter is dedicated to the didactic concept of qualification, which should offer the primary conditions of an effective tandem work and determine the changes in the leadership’s attitudes. Conforming to the Sandwich-Principle (Wahl, 2001; Konrad & Traub, 2001), the qualification’s concept is composed of collective and individual learning phases, where, in between, alternating coaching-talks are conducted.
Between 2004 and 2006, the first experimental phase included two groups of twelve tandem-coaches; each with a total of five conducted coaching-talks of one and half to two hours of duration. Through interviews, questionnaires, and behaviour reconstruction, it could be showed that through tandem-coaching verifiable changes in behavior occurred in leadership, and further, the cooperative work in tandem affected encouraging (positively) the person on process of learning and his/her leadership on the praxis.
