Die politische Rolle der Janitscharen während des 17. Jahrhunderts im Lichte des tarih-i Na'ima

Abstract

Nach einer einleitenden Darstellung der verschiedenen Formen der Sklaverei, die im Osmanischen Reich existierten, und einer ausführlichen Darstellung der Militärsklaven, allen voran der Janitscharen, wird in der Arbeit anhand der informationen aus der Chronik des Na'ima (Mustafa Na'im) untersucht, welche Rolle das Corps der Janitscharen während der Ereignisse des 17. Jahrhunderts im Osmanischen Reich spielte. Hierbei liegt der Fokus vor allem auf den Geschehnissen im zentrum des Reiches und auf den verschiedenen Revolten der Janitscharen, die den Verlauf des 17. jahrhunderts prägten.

After a short introductive presentation of the different forms of slavery that existed in the Ottoman empire, and a detailed study of the institution of military slaves, especially the Janissaries, this study discusses the role of the Janissaries during the events of the 17th century in the Ottoman empire, based on the reports in the chronicle of Na'ima (Mustafa Na'im). The study focusses on the events at the centre of the empire and the different revolts started by the corps of the Janissaries, which played an important role during the events of the 17th century.
