Sprache und Wahrheit. Zeichentheorie und Illuminationslehre bei Augustinus

Abstract

Kann die Sprache als Instrument betrachtet werden, um die Wahrheit weiterzugeben? In dieser Arbeit werden die Sprachtheorie und Illuminationslehre bei Augustinus behandelt. Die Probleme der Sprache – wie ihre Unzulänglichkeit, das Ding an sich auszudrücken und die Distanz zwischen dem Ding (das Bezeichnete) und dem Wort (das Zeichen) zu überschreiten – führen zu dem Vorrang der Erkenntnis des Dinges vor der Erkenntnis des Zeichens. Demgemäß werden die Sprache – als Kommunikationssystem, die von ihr erzeugten Probleme, die Hermeneutiktheorie bei Augustinus und danach die Illuminationslehre und das Wie des Erlangens der allumfassenden Wahrheit behandelt.

The question of the possibility of teaching is connected to the question of truth. Language is deficient when expressing the truth of things and hermeneutics is a methodologically leading attempt to come closer to the truth through language. Then, according to Augustinus, Illumination is essential in order to reach the truth. Illumination is a cognitive process, the most sophisticated level of knowledge and we can state that only educated people can achieve Illumination.
