Abstract:
Schelling is often referred to as the Proteus of philosophy, because he had designed especially his philosophy of nature in ever new concepts. With regard to his natural philosophy usually his early philosophy from 1797 to 1801 is of interest. The present study attempts to show two things: first, that we can say with some justification, that there is a late philosophy of nature, second, that Schelling was not just Proteus, but with regard to his idea of evolution along with many changes there are also significant constants.
