Abstract:
This study starts with an analysis of the biblical concept of 'soul' to develop a biblical psycho-logy. Pastoral care is understood as help in and to a life-in-relation. Relation has several layers of meaning: as relation to God, relation to the other, relation to the world, relation to oneself.
The second part of this study examines critically current conceptions of pastoral care.
The third and last part presents the pastoral psychology of the clinical pastoral care education as practical solution to the problem of how a biblical conception of 'soul' might guide the pastoral work.
