Die Materialität der Gewalt : Oder: Warum die Kategorie des Raumes für eine politische Soziologie der Gewalt nützlich sein könnte

Abstract

Die neuere Soziologie der Gewalt, die an Heinrich Popitz' Theorie der Macht anknüpft, verfolgt zwei Perspektiven: eine Handlungssoziologie, die die Körperlichkeit menschlicher Erfahrung in den Mittelpunkt stellt, und eine politische Soziologie, die die Ordnungsformen der Gewalt zum Ausgangspunkt der Analyse nimmt. Da beide Perspektiven nicht unbedingt dieselbe Blickrichtung einschlagen, wird hier ergänzend eine analytische Kategorie vorgeschlagen: Eine Foucaultsche Figurierung des Raumes erlaubt es, Gewaltphänomene auf dem Hintergrund politischer Ordnungen zu lesen.

The „ new sociology of violence ", based on the theory of power of Heinrich Popitz, is focussed on two aspects: lt sees itself as a sociology of action concerned with the physical aspect of human experience and at the same time as a political sociology concerned with violence inscribed into social order. As both perspectives are not necessarily directed to the same empirical field the theoretical claim is not easily being realised. This article therefore introduces a Foucaultian concept of space that might be useful to analyse phenomenon of violence on the background of political order.
