Monitoring transitional justice in Ethiopia : the crucial role of the African Union

Abstract

This policy paper explores the potential for the African Union to take a more active role in monitoring and supporting the implementation of transitional justice in Ethiopia, in line with the African Union Transitional Justice Policy, and in collaboration with key stakeholders. In doing so, the paper outlines the transitional justice process in Ethiopia and underscores the crucial role the African Union has already played in its initiation and design.
