dc.description.abstract This research project explores Singapore's urban green spaces with a particular focus on the interests and influences shaping them from different dimensions of sustainability. Social, economic, and environmental aspects are examined, and their influences and narratives investigated. By conducting field trips, expert interviews, and examining data from the National Parks Board, the study further uncovers global and local influences on urban greening in Singapore. Singapore's strong emphasis on a clean and green environment is identified as a distinguishing factor in developing its reputation as a sophisticated and sustainable green city. The study examines specific examples of different Singaporean landscapes to illustrate how urban green spaces can be shaped and explained by the city-state and the specific interests involved. Overall, the study reveals Singapore's commitment to urban greening and sustainability as a method of transformation into a socially united and economically advanced international hub. It emphasizes the importance of recreating natural environments in cooperation with urban functions for Singapore's national development. The research concludes by suggesting that further studies could explore the negotiation and impact of various resources on green spaces, offering insights into the complexities and potential solutions for sustainable urban development globally. en
